If you've been following my journey, you know that my son recently became a Marine. My husband is also a Navy veteran so the military has a special place in my heart. I am so appreciative of everything that our service men and women do for this country. I wanted to show them and I found the perfect way to do so!! Every time you purchase from my TPT store I donate a portion to Green Beans Coffee. They have a program called Cup of Joe for a Joe. Basically, you buy a cup of coffee for a deployed service member. When they pick up the coffee you get an email and sometimes the email has a little note like these here... It's an amazing program! If you are interested in donating your own cup of coffee, I know we have many deployed service members who would appreciate it! Here's the link to Green Beans Coffee!

![]() Before we talk about tomorrow, can we talk about this heat? It's 115 degrees here and I am melting. I'm going stir crazy because I can't go outside...and I live in my RV!! To pass the time, I've been researching where to go next. It looks like we're headed to Gulf Shores, Alabama. I love the beach and I found my husband a work camping job there. Plus, it is only an hour from where my son will be attending his MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) school. If the Marines allow him a day off, I'm totally there. So tomorrow I turn 49. I'm not sure how that happened. I was 16 just yesterday. To celebrate we're going to my favorite restaurant (well, in this tiny town) . I will be eating the Dump Truck. It's like a massive sandwich with ALL the meats AND mac & cheese on top. ¡Es delicioso! Here is a photo for you enjoyment. If you come visit me someday, I'll totally take you to eat this massive sandwich too. We'll skip breakfast and lunch and it will be ok. Plus, we'll save calories by drinking water. Since you won't be able to make it to Arizona before my birthday, I still want to celebrate with you! In celebration of my 49th year on this planet, I've reduced all items in my TPT store by 20%. School is starting soon for some of us so I hope this helps you as you start to prepare for the new year. I have written 7 new stories with worksheets this time. These are sold separately or in a bundle. So far the bundle includes the 7 stories but I will be adding (at least) 3 more before school starts! Each time I add a story, I raise the price a bit so buy now and it's like you're getting the three new stories for free! Free is good, right? The sale is set on East Coast hours (I guess TPT is on the east coast???) and it's on July 13...TOMORROW!!
Please let me know if you have any questions on my resources. You can message me on TPT but I respond quicker if you just send me an email! [email protected] Jen ![]() Seriously. Where has the summer gone? I go back to school on August 2 and that's only three weeks away!! When do you go back? I hope you have a bit more time yet! Let me fill you in on what's been happening. First off, my son is a Marine now!!!! We were able to spend a glorious week in San Diego. He sent us a letter saying that his company was going to be honored at the San Diego Padres game. Soooooo of course I rearranged our trip and bought tickets to the game. I was certain that we would have to wave to him from afar. I made a crazy sign that said "Have you seen my Marine?" and then I pasted a giant photo of him in a bunny costume from when he was like 3!! I left my husband in our seats and I wandered over to the concession area behind where the Marines were sitting in the stands. They all looked alike. They were wearing the same brown uniform. They all had these little hats on their bald heads. Luckily, I wrote my son's name on my sign (under the bunny) and someone recognized it! Another Marine told me that he had just seen my son in line for food!! And then I saw him. Yep. I started crying. I hadn't seen him in 4 months and now there he was all grown up and wearing a Marine uniform. I took so many pictures and texted my husband to abandon our seats because I had our baby with me! We were able to spend four innings talking to him and listening to stories from bootcamp. It was AMAZING. We then spent Monday and Tuesday enjoying our beautiful hotel and eating shrimp tacos and drinking sangria. On Wednesday we attended Family Day and on Thursday we were able to watch him graduate from bootcamp!! Shut the Front Door. My baby boy who JUST turned 18 like the week before is a Marine?!?!?! Yep. We did it. We are now empty nesters (with the exception of our very needy German Shepherd pup). Kinda hard to top the Marine stuff but we also spent a week in Las Vegas. My husband's cousin and her husband flew in from Alabama. It was super fabulous. We ate amazing food and lost way too much money. Other than that, we've been trying to keep cool in this CRAZY Arizona heat! They say that Saturday will be almost 120. I feel like I am slowly cooking like in a crock pot. This must be how meatballs feel!! I have just started creating again this week! I have three new stories on TPT. The first one is called Los elefantes gemelos. It's pretty basic grammar and vocab and geared towards the first quarter of Spanish 1. The second story is written using the Super Siete verbs and it's called El perro viajero. It was about my dog...but then my dog wouldn't cooperate with pictures so it's about some random black dog with my dog's name ;) And the third story is one that I just finished today. It is called El pingüino que quiere viajar. It's SO cute. I focused on the verbs querer and poder. It's about the cute little penguin boy from Punta Arenas, Chile and he wants to travel to Viña del Mar. All three of these stories include a super cute Google Slideshow version of the story, a PDF worksheet with the story and 3 activities and an answer guide. While I'm currently in negotiations with my husband to point the RV to a cool mountain top somewhere, I do intend to continuing creating stories over the next few weeks/months. I have a grad class to finish up...but this is so much more fun!! I hope that wherever you are, you are staying cool!! Happy July!! ~Jen |
